Default New to PvP, going to HoH

I have this game for quiet some time now and I wanna focus on going to PvP now, going to the Hall of Heroes, to gain some fame and rank.
But I have some questions.
I entered the Tombs and joined a party and then we had a 8vs8 battle, in a small arena, but was that the Hall of Heroes?
I have observed some battles and there were lots of places where you could fight.
Are all these places the Hall of Heroes? And how do you gain rank/fame? And if I get a rank or fame on my 1 character, do I get rank or fame on my other characters too? (like Faction)

One more question: most good teams use Teamspeak or Ventrilo, but is it really nessesary? I don't have a mic and I see people joining random teams in the Tombs and they don't even talk about the tactics, they just go in, and die...

Hall of Heroes is the final battle Tombs. You will know when you get there.

Fame is gained for every win in Tombs (no matter which map it is). Consecutive wins results in higher fame rewards (1, 2, 3, 6, etc - but tops at 40 fame per win). Certain fame level gets you a certain rank level - like rank 3 is 180 fames.
Certain rank level gets you a rank emote - those deers (3), wolves(6), tiger(9), things you see around.

Yes, fame/rank applies to your account not character.

Teamspseak is a great tool. Is it necessary? Most will say yes, but many Koreans barely speak to each other during combat - I have heard even top elite GvG guilds barely use TS/Vent.

Mic is not necessary unless for certain roles in the team like caller, monk or whatever.

Teamspeak/Vent is also great way to get to know people.

You really answered your own question with TS/Vent. If you want to win playing something other than IWAY I highly suggest getting both TS and vent. You can't convey important information fast enough. All the top american and european guilds use TS and/or Vent. I have heard the korean guilds use some other form of voice com or alternatively they are often all physically in the same room (Cybercafe equivalent in korea.)

Don't hold this as a grudge against TS/Vent but.... here's my story:

I was in the tombs with an IWAY team and we were on one of the last maps. Us trappers wandered outside of the fort and started to lay down as many traps as we could all over the place before they got to us. All of the sudden this guy with a SUPER high pitched voice goes "OMFGZZ TR4PP3RZ GET BAK IN T3H FORTZOR AND LAY T3h TRAPS THERE!!111!!!!11111"

We all laughed so hard that we became incapable to fight, and we lost.

The only way a new person can get into a pug right now is by IWAY or other "popular" builds. If you have friends that are in pvp then I suggest you play with them and make as many friends.

Some people probably won't use TS/Vent because either they know each other's roles and don't use it much or there at a cafe where they are together and just talk out loud, like Korea.

If you get a random invite then don't accept since there just going to go in and die from the ghosts.

play in as many PUGs as possible and get your name out there. you'll eventually have people contacting you to join up for pvp. make sure to do the same favor by adding people to your friend's list and messaging them when you need a player.

Also, I am playing PvP with my PvE character, but I was in a party and they said I needed a skill, "go buy it at the Priest", but the Priest only unlocks it for PvP characters. So is a PvE char beter then a PvP?

Only if you have a lot of money. There are PvE items that are better than PvP items, and you could always have the option of switching armour midgame. But to create a PvE character for PvP, you shouldn't skimp on the runes-you should have enough for whatever your character needs-including a sup vigor. Which is why you need a lot of money to take a PvE character into PvP.

If you can't do that, make a PvP character.

And you can always put your own PvE items on a PvP char, just make sure you don't delete them >.< .

If you've unlocked a rune, it should be selectable when you create a PvP-only character.
If you want to use a rune on a PvE character, you have to get the rune and put it on their armour.

If you did not ID the rune yourself, then the rune it is not unlocked. So if you bought/traded from another player or even the NPC rune-trader you did not unlock it yet

TS and Vent is definitely necessary for any non-IWAY build because even if it doesn't help the players on it by virtue of them not being skilled enough to say what they should be saying or listening to orders of what others say; good groups will simply never take you in their team if you don't have it.

Therefore if you want to play in competitively in PVP, you must have TS and Vent.

As for it being necessary, for most builds it is. For those builds where it is not strictly necessary, it surely comes in handy even so.

Of course many players on TS/Vent do not bother to do basic things that they should be doing whilst on there, hence just joining a team that is on TS or Vent does not mean that they know what they're doing or that being on TS/Vent is actually giving them an advantage.

If you are planning to play a monk and be good at it, then you're also gonna need a mic to call your healing seeds and when you have really bad hexes on you etc.
